NFC East

Dallas Cowboys: OT (8.75) x2, OG (8.25), FS (8), CB (8), OG (8), C (8)

A surprisingly good team. They have an offensive line that looks like the Redskins; overrated and old. However, the injury bug didn’t hit them, and they tripped anyone who got by. They need two new OTs, Flozell and Free have been bad. Guard is also a position of need, so look for them to revamp the entire offensive line. Jenkins is a keeper at CB, but Newman is overrated and old and they need a replacement. A playmaker at safety will help, as Ken Hamlin is the Dallas LaRon Landry.

New York Giants: S (9), FS (8.5), OT (8.5), MLB (8.5), DT (8), OG (8)

This seems to be a running problem in the NFC East; offensive line. They are old and overrated here, too, so look for them to find some new power in there for their run game. The defense suffered greatly with the loss of Phillips at safety, and rumor is he may never be back to full speed, if he is back at all. So, both safety positions are huge going forward, as te Giants’ decent corners had no help over the top. They need to replace Plaxico’s deputy (Pierce) at MLB, he was bad this year and is getting older.

Philadelphia Eagles: DE (9.5), OLB (9), CB (8.5), RB speed (8.25), FS (8), OT (8), OG (8)

Unfortunately, the Eagles’ offensive line fell apart in the playoffs. They couldn’t stop anyone. The Andrews brothers are either hurt or playing like they’re hurt, so guard and tackle are big needs. On defense, as Roshan Bhagat put it on Footballsfuture.com, the Eagles need ‘true’ pass rush. They have always had exotic blitzes because of the late DC Jim Johnson, but they need a DE who can create pressure without bringing the house. They need an OLB to help with tackling on the edges, and a CB to play opposite Samuel. They also need a speed back, but McCoy looks like he may be able to carry the load, so a late-round spell RB with some speed could work fine there.

Washington Redskins: OT (10) x2, QB (9.5), FS (9.5), , OG (9), RB (8.75), C (8.5), CB (8.25), SLB (7.5), MLB (7.5)

Ah, my Redskins. Let’s be honest, there are some holes. I have tried to remove myself completely as a fan in writing this, so here goes. We really have two major boo-boos on our team. The safety play and the offensive line. The offensive line is the #1 priority. If we do not have three more starters in early September next year, we will lose double-digit games this year. With the uncapped year, though, Danny can easily find at least 2 solid starters in FA.

What about QB you ask? Well, let’s look at the stats: the Redskins O-line was 29th in sacks, 28th in QB hits, 31st if you combine the two. They produced in the bottom 5 in every rushing stat available on NFL.com. Wow, they suck. Campbell’s lowest stat line was #20 in the league, and that was attempts per game. He was 12th in completions, 10th in %, 15th in YPA, 9th in INTs, 11th in first downs, and the Redskins were bottom 5 in third down efficiency. The take home lesson: Jason Campbell performed as an above-average QB behind arguably the worst overall offensive line in the league. Should we get rid of him? No, but we will. Should be draft a QB at #4? No, but we will.

Moving to defense, we need a FS to help Landry move back to his natural position of SS, as he was burned ALL year on double moves. We obviously need a RB, as Clinton will walk, but Shanny is famous for taking backs late in the draft and making them more than serviceable. At CB, we could use a solid CB because I think Carlos will be gone too. And we eventually need a replacement for the all-underrated London Fletcher, who is 35.
